I was very excited to have this book come in from the library, because I’m pretty sure I was the FIRST PERSON TO GET IT. If you’re not a library user, you don’t quite understand just how exciting this can be. None of the pages had been marked, the plastic cover hadn’t clouded over yet, it didn’t smell like anyone else’s house. It was marvelous.
But enough about the physical copy of the book. Let’s talk about what really matters – the story. And *woo* this was a good one.
In Yellow Brick War, we go back to Kansas. And it is very interesting to see Amy back in Kansas, especially after all of the speculation about what happened to Dorothy when she returned to Kansas. I loved getting to find out about everything that had been happening back in the Other Place while Amy was in Oz. Getting to see how Amy has changed and grown, and how the other characters from Kansas have changed and grown, was really rewarding.
My worry was that being back in Kansas, the sense of urgency would falter. That being away from Oz, the stakes would fall, and that the story would stall. That was not the case at all. Amy is still very driven to save Oz, and the Order of the Wicked are not willing to let her slack off, even if she lost her drive.
This was a great third book in the series. My question to you is: Does anybody know how many more books Danielle is planning to write in the series (not including the novellas)?
