I absolutely loved Peter and the Starcatchers. This book was a lovely introduction to the boy who would never grow up. Everything in the novel was obviously building up to Peter and his Neverland adventures, but none of it felt contrived or forced. It was so much fun to watch the slow build that Barry and Pearson had orchestrated.
Be warned, this is a long book. That doesn’t mean that it was a painful read. There was simply a lot to the story. And it was a great story. This would even make a great read-aloud, and could go along with a fractured fairytale unit. This is a wonderful example of someone taking a well-loved story, and imagining how the characters got to where they started.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a child or has ever been one.
